With the continuous deepening of school sports reform,promoting the high-quality development of high-level football players in universities has become a historical necessity.Systematically sorting out the historical process and current challenges of cultivating high-level football players in universities,and constructing a practical direction for cultivating high-level football players in universities,is of great significance for actively responding to the development demands of the new era and promoting the construction of school sports and campus football ecology.Research suggested that high-level football players in Chinese universities have gone through three stages:pilot exploration,rapid development,and high-quality development.The alienation of cognitive concepts,deviation in training models,contradictions between traditional learning and training,and obstacles in career selection are the practical challenges facing the cultivation of high-level football players in current universities.In the new era,the cultivation of high-level football players in universities should focus on building a new model for cultivating outstanding football talents,exploring new tracks for cultivating young football reserve talents,creating a new platform for high-level football player competitions,consolidating new driving forces for the development of high-level football players,and shaping a new cultural ecology for high-level football players.
