Guiding Effect of Manufacturing Development on Upstream-Downstream Industries——Examination Based on Input-Output Tables
Existing researches on the guiding effect were confined to the direct contribution of a single industry to the macroeconomy, while ignoring the comprehensive analysis of the mutual influence among each link in the industrial chain. This paper firstly integrated and combed manufacturing industrial chains, and adopted the input-output method to explore the guiding effect of manufacturing industry on upstream-downstream industries. Then the paper made a comparison of manufacturing industries between Guangdong province and Gansu province, aiming to provide relevant countermeasures and suggestions for the development of manufacturing industry in Gansu province and other less developed provinces in the west. The research showed that,as the downstream industry, manufacuring industry had a weakening guiding effect on other industries, but the guiding effect of manufacturing industry might be strengthened while the manufacturing acted as the upstream industry.Compared with Guangdong province, the manufacturing industry in Gansu province had a minor effect on the demand for other economic sectors, the economic guiding effect of which was relatively weaker. Therefore,it was necessary to give priority to the development of manufacturing industry, construction industry and mining industry,so as to drive the further development of the economy.
