Internet Use and Gender Bias Identity——Theoretical Analysis and Empirical Test
Based on the Chinese General Social Survey data, this article used the methods of kernel matching, robust least squares regression, quantile regression and RIF regression decomposition to examine the impact of internet use on gender bias identity. The results showed that:internet use could significantly improve gender bias identity, and the effect was weaker in the group of the male.As the level of gender bias increased, the improvement effect of internet use showed the tendency of decrease first and then increase in the group of the male, while the tendency in the female group was the opposite. When gender bias was at a low level, the improvement effect of internet use didn't have gender differences. When gender bias was at middle and high levels, the improvement effect of internet use was weaker in the group of the male. The paper proposed three suggestions, including strengthening the construction of internet infrastructure, improving the accessibility of internet use,and properly guiding online media propaganda.
