From the perspective of governance efficiency,this paper constructed a comprehensive,scientific,and characteristically Chinese evaluation indicator system for national governance capability modernization,which comprised six primary indicators:economy,politics,culture,society,ecology and Party construction,as well as 21 secondary indicators and 53 tertiary indicators.Additionally,the paper set the target values for 2035 based on government official government documents,scholarly forecast outcomes,and trend projections,calculating the degree of progress in national governance capability modernization from 2013 to 2021.Research findings indicated that,China's national governance modernization index reached 63.65 in 2021,signifying that more than half of the journey towards achieving the goal of fundamentally modernizing the national governance system and governance capability by 2035 has been completed.In addition,contribution analysis revealed that,political indicators contributed the most to the modernization of national governance among all indicators during the periods 2013-2015,2017-2019 and 2019-2021.
