High-Quality Development of the Consumer Market:Theoretical Framework and Statistical Measurement——Based on the Perspectives of Demand Side and Supply Side
The high-quality development of the consumer market embodies the fundamental kinetic energy behind China's high-quality development.This paper defined the connotation and characteristics of a high-quality consumer market by constructing a theoretical framework that encompassed the demand side,supply side and market mechanisms of the consumer market,followed by the establishment of an indicator system to empirically measure the level of high-quality development in China's consumer market from 2003 to 2022.Theoretical analysis indicated that,a pivotal shift in government function,from an administrative-focused regulator to a service-oriented one providing comprehensive oversight,was crucial for promoting the high-quality development of the consumer market.Empirical measurement outcomes revealed a notable overall improvement in the level of high-quality development in China's consumer market,particularly exhibiting steady growth since 2008.Dimensional analysis uncovered an U-shaped recovery trend in demand-side indicators,a marked elevation in the level of institutional construction following the deepening of comprehensive reforms,and a sustained,stable rise in supply-side indicators.
