Digital Economy Empowering the Enhancement of Resilience in Industrial Chains
Using provincial panel data from China between 2011 and 2022,this study empirically tested whether the digital economy enhanced the resilience of provincial industrial chains. The study found that, the digital economy had a significant promoting effect on enhancing the resilience of provincial industrial chains. This conclusion held true after addressing endogeneity, exogenous shocks, and a series of other robustness checks. The enhancing effect of the digital economy on the resilience of provincial industrial chains was particularly evident in the central and eastern regions, regions with high levels of marketization, and regions with stronger intellectual property protection.Further analysis showed that, the digital economy could enhance the resilience of provincial industrial chains by promoting the development of financial technology related to small business lending and improving the level of human capital.Additionally, the development of the digital economy also significantly promoted the resilience of industrial chains in neighboring areas through spatial spillover effects.
