Urban-rural Integrated Development Empowering Rural Resilience:Theoretical Mechanism and Empirical Test
Urban-rural integrated development is an important path to improve the quality and efficiency of rural resilience.Based on the panel data of 31 provinces in China from 2012 to 2022,this paper empirically tests the effect of urban-rural inte-grated development on rural resilience and its mechanism by constructing the benchmark regression model and mediation effect model. The findings suggest that urban-rural integrated development has a positive impact on rural resilience. The mechanism analysis results are shown as follows:Correcting resource misallocation and promoting industrial structure upgrading play a medi-ating effect in the impact of urban-rural integrated development on rural resilience, and the effect of industrial structure upgrad-ing is more significant. The enabling effect of urban-rural integrated development on rural resilience is more significant in the central region, while there is no significant effect in the western region. Therefore,it is expected to enable the modernization of agriculture and rural areas and accelerate the realization of urban-rural integrated development in the new era by optimizing the structure of factor allocation, driving the upgrading of industrial structure and creating a network of regional synergistic develop-ment.
