Improving the digital literacy of farmers not only helps them to better adapt to the needs of the digital era,but also provides new opportunities and paths for agricultural entrepreneurship.Based on the survey data of farmers in the three northeastern provinces of China(Heilongjiang,Liaoning and Jilin)in 2019 and 2022,the impact of digital literacy on farmers'agricultural entrepreneurship decision-making and entrepreneurial performance is empirically examined based on the instrumental variable Heckman model, and the mechanisms by which digital literacy affects farmers'agricultural entrepreneurship are categorized into credit constraints, information constraints, and risk preference mechanisms. The research results reveal that digital literacy has a significant positive impact on agricultural entrepreneurship of farmers, and that can promote farmers'participation in agricultural entrepreneur ship and improve its performance. The intrinsic mechanism indicates that digital literacy can promote agricultural entrepreneurship and improve agricultural entrepreneurial performance by alleviating credit constraints and information constraints of farmers.Simultaneously, digital literacy can promote farmers'participation in agricultural entrepreneurship by improving farmers'risk appetite, but the role of risk appetite is not significant in the process of digital literacy affecting farmers'agricultural entrepreneurship performance.Ultimately, policy recommendations are made in terms of improving the digital literacy of farmers, improving the construction of rural digital information platforms with easing the information constraints of farmers, and constructing a new type of digital credit system due to easing the credit constraints of agricultural entrepreneurship of farmers.
