The Coupling and Coordination Relationship between Digital Economy and Manufacturing Industry in China:A High-quality Development Perspective
Pro mo ting the high-quality coupling and coordinated development of the digital economy with the manufacturing industry is an inherent requirement for China to build a modern industrial system and shape new competitive advantages at a national level.Based on panel data from 30 provinces(including municipalities and autonomous regions)in China from 2012 to 2022,the index evaluation system of digital economy and high-quality development of manufacturing industry is constructed on the basis of clarifying the coupling and coordination mechanism of high-quality development of manufacturing industry and digital economy.The entropy weight TOPSIS method is used to measure the development levels of the digital economy and the manufacturing industry along with their subsystems.Additionally,a coupling coordination degree model is employed to examine the coupling and coordination relationship between these two systems.The results indicate that:firstly,the coupling degree and coordination degrees of the digital economy and high-quality development of the manufacturing industry in the eastern regions are relatively higher,but the upward trend in the central and western regions is more obvious.The main reason behind is that the digital economy and high-quality development level of the manufacturing industry in the eastern regions have the characteristics of"double high",while the high-quality development level of the manufacturing industry in the underdeveloped areas of the central and western regions in the early stage is low,and the corresponding platform and technical support for the development of the digital economy have not been provided,but the development level of the digital economy in the central and western regions has been rapidly improved in recent years,providing a strong enabling role for the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.Secondly,from the perspective of the coupling degree of each subsystem of digital economy and high-quality development of manufacturing industry,the coupling degree between digital economy and market demand is the highest,and the coupling degree between digital economy and government orientation is the lowest.At the same time,there is also a clear upward trend in the degree of coupling with the enterprises themselves,industry development and market demand.Thirdly,from the perspective of the coupling coordination degree of each subsystem of the digital economy and the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry,the coupling coordination degree level of the digital economy and each subsystem is generally convergent,but they have not yet reached a good state and need to be further improved.The conclusions also verify that,coordination is an advanced stage of coupling,and effective promotion of the coordination relationship between various subsystems and the digital economy is essential to enhance the overall coordination level of high-quality development between the digital economy and the manufacturing industry.Therefore,it is necessary to further promote the deep integration of digital technology and manufacturing industry,and promote the development of industrial digitization and digital industrialization;At the same time,establish an inter-regional cooperation and exchange mechanism to promote the cross-regional coupling and coordinated development of the digital economy and manufacturing industry;In addition,it is necessary to correctly understand the imbalance of the coordinated development of digital economy and manufacturing industry,and give full play to the interaction between government policies and market mechanisms in the high-quality development of digital economy and manufacturing industry,so as to effectively promote the high-quality coupling and coordinated development of China's digital economy and manufacturing industry.
