Research Progress of Cellulose Based Self-healing Hydrogels for Wound Dressings
The abundant oxygen-containing groups on the cellulose chain can form hydrogen bond networks with water molecules, which is conducive to the preparation of self-healing hydrogels. The self-healing hydrogels based on cellulose have the advantages of good biocompatibility and non-toxicity,which can be applied to wound dressings. In this paper, the synthesis principle of cellulose based hydrogels was first introduced, and then the healing mechanism of cellulose based self-healing hydrogels was reviewed.Reversible non-covalent bonds(hydrogen bonds, hydrophobic interactions,host-guest interactions, etc.)and dynamic covalent bonds(imine bonds, acylhydrazone bonds, disulfide bonds, etc.)were used to engender self-healing ability.Cellulose-based self-healing hydrogels have great potential in the field of wound dressings, but still face some challenges, and future research will focus on solving existing challenges of low mechanical properties and exploring new methods of preparation and application.
