Study on Performance of Acrylate Coatings Filled with Sulfonated Graphene
Sulfonated graphene/acrylate coatings were prepared by adding 0.1wt%~ 2.0wt% sulfonated graphene into acrylic emulsion. The structure of S-GNS and the performance including mechanical, electrical, thermal conductivity and gas barrier of the film were tested and analyzed. It was found that there were many active functional groups on the surface of S-GNS which could improve the performance of coatings. The results indicated that mechanical properties and of electrical conductivity of coating film were notably improved. When the amount of sulfonated graphene was loaded 0.1wt%,the tensile strength and elongation at break of the film were improved by 38.8% and 42.8% respectively as compared with the control samples. The electrical conductivity reached percolation threshold and the surface resistivity was decreased by 93.8%.The thermal conductivity of the film comprising 1.0wt% sulfonated graphene was increased by 58.9%.Coefficient of permeability of the film gradually decreased with the increase of sulfonated graphene loading, and was decreased by 97.1% when the addition of sulfonated graphene was 2.0wt%.
