Preparation and Properties of Epoxy Anticorrosive Coating for Hot-Dip Galvanized Gas Pipeline
The effects of different epoxy resin, curing agent and pigment/binder ratio on the adhesion, pencil hardness, impact resistance and acid resistance of the coating on the surface of hot-dip galvanized tube substrate were investigated. The result shows that the epoxy E20-polyamide 125 system can reduce the drying time of the coating. The impact resistance of the coating on the surface of the hot-dip galvanized pipe can be improved up to 123.5 cm,meanwhile,it still can reach 95.5 cm after the acid resistance test. When the pigment/binder ratio of the coating is controlled at 1.8 ∶ 1,the overall performance of the coating reaches the best. Before and after the acid resistance test, the performance has not declined, the adhesion still reaches 0 level and the impact resistance still reaches 162.5 cm.Thus, the protective coating for hot-dip galvanized gas pipeline is prepared by using epoxy resin E-20 as the base resin, polyamide 125 as the curing agent and the coating pigment/binder ratio 1.8 ∶ 1.The performance of the coating is significantly better than the technical requirements for the epoxy resin coatings and film thereof as described by “CGAS001-2016 wide-edge pipe connection coating gas pipeline technical regulations”.
