An investigation process is conducted for a case of PVC gross sealing glue crack on automobile paint shop.In this paper,the root cause of the PVC gross glue crack defect is investigated and confirmed via a 4M1E quality management system(i.e.,man,machine,material,method and environment).The result shows that the crack defect is resulted from tool scratching the PVC top edge when operator was using tool to press masking boundary tape during the black roof masking process.With the improvement of subsequent masking process and PVC glue application height,as well as the implementation of a series of effective long-term management measurements,the defect of PVC glue cracking has been completely eliminated.
