A second-order water-based acrylic dispersion is prepared by solution polymerization using methyl methacrylate, butyl acrylate, hydroxyethyl methacrylate and acrylate as basic copolymer monomers in addition to the bio-based monomers derived from castor oil at different mass ratio. The prepared bio-based polyacrylic resin was characterized, and the influence of the proportion of bio-based monomer on the performance of waterborne secondary dispersion during the polymerization process is studied. The results show that the best effect is achieved when the proportion of bio-based monomer is 5%while the proportions of other monomers and additives are unchanged.
