Application of Ultrafine Barium Sulfate in Waterborne Epoxy Ester Primer
The application properties of barium sulfate modified by different modifiers and untreated barium sulfate in waterborne epoxy ester primer are compared. The conventional mechanical properties, such as initial water resistance, salt spray resistance, resistance to deionized water at room temperature, resistance to 0.1mol/L sulfuric acid, resistance to 0.1mol/L sodium hydroxide, etc.,are studied. The results show that the surface modification of barium sulfate with silane and titanate coupling agent significantly improves its dispersion, gloss, hardness and adhesion properties. However, the acid resistance and water resistance of barium sulfate modified by titanate coupling agent can be significantly improved while the resistance of barium sulfate modified by alkyl silane and epoxy-silane is not significantly improved, and even decreases to a certain extent.
