MLST and virulence gene detection of Staphylococcus aureus isolated from camel raw milk in Xinjiang
To understand the multilocus sequence typing(MLST)and virulence gene of Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus)from cam-el milk in Xinjiang, the MLST method, antibiotic susceptibility testing,biofilm-forming ability and hemolysis assessment,as well as virulence gene analysis were performed on the S.aureus isolated from camel milk samples in this study. The results showed that S.aureus was isolated from apparently healthy raw camel milk at a rate of 5%(4/80).All S.aureus isolates belonging to ST8114,ST8119,ST2073,and ST130(ST8114 and ST8119 are novel sequence types),respectively, and were sensitive to 12 antimicrobial antibiotics. The 4 isolates carried sei, hla, hlb, clfA,and clfB virulence genes and exhibited biofilm-forming ability and hemolytic ac-tivity.This result illustrates that S.aureus from camel milk is typologically rich and poses a risk to both host pathogenicity and food production safety. This study provides primary experimental data for the related research on S.aureus from Xinjiang camel milk.
