The new balise can achieve function extension on the basis of the existing balise.This paper studies how to achieve train-to-wayside communication,automatic tracking of train front and rear end locations,train section and track occupancy detection as well train integrity detection while retaining the existing functions.The new balise simplifies the equipment types of signaling system,reduces the quantity of wayside equipment,and lowers construction and maintenance costs.It can either form part of a low-cost and efficient intermittent signaling system or serve as the backup mode of a CBTC system,and can ensure real-time emergency response through low-cost wireless communication methods.
