On Integrated Review of Innovation Theory:Categories,Links and Future
The diversity of innovation theories,while expanding the research space and contributing to societal practices,has simultaneously introduced numerous conceptual challenges that urgently need clarification.Surveys on innovation theories have predominantly focused on individual theory reviews and prospects,lacking a comprehensive evaluation of various innovation theories.Through a comprehensive analysis of literature on innovation theories from the CSSCI database(1998-2022),this study reveals the following key findings:Existing innovation theories can be categorized based on aspects such as"object,manifestation,method,subject,value";There exist embedded impact relationships among various innovation theories;The strategic and resource capabilities of enterprises serve as foundational and constraining factors for the application of innovation theories;Indigenous innovation theories play a strategic integrating and leading role in micro-level innovation theories;Different innovation theories exhibit significant variations in usage trends.Comparatively,the theories of sustainable innovation,incremental innovation,deviant innovation,breakthrough innovation,dual innovation,disruptive innovation,green innovation,and open innovation are current and future research hotspots that deserve high attention.
