Research on the Impact of Manufacturing Agglomeration on Carbon Productivity:Empirical Analysis from the Perspective of Technological Progress
Under the vision of Chinese-style modernization, manufacturing agglomeration has become the key to improving the quality and efficiency of China's economy.Based on the data of 30 provincial panels from 2011 to 2020,the entropy method was used to measure the level of manufacturing agglomeration, and the mediation effect model and spatial Durbin model were constructed to empirically test the impact and functioning mechanism of manufacturing agglomeration and technological progress on carbon productivity. The results show that manufacturing agglomeration has an inverted U-shaped impact on the improvement of carbon productivity, and this effect has a spatial spillover effect.Manufacturing agglomeration can have a positive impact on the improvement of carbon productivity through the mediating effect of technological progress. The empirical analysis of the mechanism of action shows that the impact of manufacturing agglomeration on carbon productivity is spatially heterogeneous due to the difference in factor endowment structure.Manufacturing agglomeration in the eastern China has a positive effect on carbon productivity.Manufacturing agglomeration in the western China has an inhibitory effect on carbon productivity.
