An Analysis On the Style and Performance of Roger Quelt's Art Songs:Taking"Five Shakespearean Poems Op.23"as an Example
Roger Quilter is a British composer,his creation is of beautiful and romantic melody,rich harmony,singability and artistry.These musical styles not only help the singers to understand the works of art deeply,but also have a subtle influence on the overall presentation of the works of art.This paper takes Roger Quailt's art song"Five Shakespeare Poems Op.23"as an example to explain the music style of this work from the author's creation background and artistic achievements,the poetic text and music essence,and the singing characteristics of English art songs.It refines the distinct elements of high unity of voice and diction,good fit of breath and resonance,and complementarity of language and works in the works,so as to help singers to have an in-depth understanding of the music of this period,but does not provide positive reference for singing the music works of this period.
