Research on Différance in Translation of Xi Xiang Ji from the Perspective of Translator's Subjectivity
This paper compares the English versions of Xi Xiang Ji by Stephen H.West&Wilt L.Idema and that by Xu Yuanchong from the perspective of translator's subjectivity, and holds that the difference of translator's subjectivity makes différance among translation texts of different master copies and différance among different paratexts become the two most prominent features of différance between different translations. On the one hand, the translator's subjectivity makes different translators choose different master copies, and the differences between different original texts produce différance between different translations, which is manifested in the translations of different styles. In this way,the target language readers can appreciate the different emphases of different texts with the changing of times. On the other hand, translator's subjectivity makes different translators construct different paratexts, forming différance between different paratexts and constructing multi-dimensional cultural context in the target language. Therefore, the différance among different translation texts and among different paratexts extends the life of the original text, broadens readers'intertextuality memory, and enriches the cultural system of the target language.
