Study on the Influence of the Integration of"Two Industries"on Carbon Emission Effectiveness:Mediating Effect Based on Industrial Structure Upgrading
Based on the provincial panel data of the Yangtze River Economic Belt from 2008 to 2021,this paper empirically investigates the relationship between the integration of"two industries",industrial structure upgrading and carbon emission effectiveness. The study found that during the research period, carbon emission effectiveness fluctuates markedly between regions, with higher carbon emission effectiveness in the downstream region and lower carbon emission effectiveness in the middle and upper regions. From the perspective of overall effect, the integration of"two industries"has a significant facilitative role on carbon emission effectiveness, and shows regular regional heterogeneity. From the perspective of intermediary effect, the upgrading and rationalization of industrial structure have strengthened the role of industrial integration in improving carbon emission effectiveness. The industries in the Yangtze River Economic Belt should be actively promoted to develop towards low-carbon,intelligent and digital development, and the integration mode of the two industries should be explored according to local conditions to achieve the purpose of optimizing carbon emission efficiency.
