The Musical Archaeology Study of Pre-Qin Bronze Musical Instruments in Tongling
From the perspective of musical archaeology,a study is conducted on the types, dating and production of pre-Qin bronze musical instruments in Tongling. The main types of bronze musical instruments used in the pre-Qin period in Tongling were Yong bells,Gou diao and"nipple-nail pattern bells".Both Yong bells and Gou diao could be classified into Type A and Type B.Tongling's bronze musical instruments can be traced back to the early Spring and Autumn period. It can be inferred that relatively mature musical activities began in Tongling at this time. The production of pre-Qin bronze musical instruments in Tongling had an adequate supply of raw materials. They adopted the excellent coiled-tile-shaped structure, had simple patterns with the style of Wu and Yue,and were mainly single in arrangement, while the tuning technology lagged behind that in the Central Plains region. These discoveries will enrich the research achievements of pre-Qin bronze instruments, expand the research scope of local music culture, and promote the practice of music archaeology in the study of local music history.
