Objective To investigate the effect of liraglutide therapy in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods A total of 52 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes admitted to Longyan First Hospital Affiliated to Fujian Medical Uni-versity from January 2021 to December 2022 were selected as the research objects and divided into two groups accord-ing to treatment methods, with 26 cases in each group. The control group was treated with metformin and the observa-tion group was treated with liraglutide. The fluctuations of blood glucose, blood lipids and changes in vascular endothe-lial function of the two groups were compared. Results After treatment, the levels of blood glucose, blood lipids and endothelin-1 were decreased in both groups, and the decrease was greater in the observation group compared with the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The levels of serum nitric oxide and blood-flow-mediated endothelial vasodilation function indexes were increased in both groups, and the increases were greater in the observation group than the control group, the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).Conclusion Liraglutide therapy in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes can improve blood glucose, blood lipids and vascular endothelial function, and has a good effect.
