Effect of Modified Gegen Qinlian Decoction on Blood Glucose Level and Nerve Conduction Velocity in Elderly Patients with Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy
Objective To investigate the effects of modified Gegen Qinlian Decoction on blood glucose level and nerve conduction velocity in elderly patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN).Methods A total of one hundred and fifty elderly patients with DPN admitted to Xiapu County Hospital of Fujian Province from January 2020 to Janu-ary 2023 were selected as the research objects and divided into groups according to the random number table method,75 patients in each group. The control group was treated with conventional therapy, and the observation group was treated with modified Gegen Qinlian Decoction on this basis.Blood glucose level and nerve conduction velocity were compared between the two groups. Results 2 h postprandial blood glucose, fasting blood glucose and glycated hemo-globin in the observation group were lower than those in the control group after 1 month of treatment, and the differ-ence was statistically significant(all P<0.05);after 1 month of treatment, sensory nerve conduction velocity and motor nerve conduction velocity of median nerve and common peroneal nerve in observation group were higher than those of control group, and the difference was statistically significant(both P<0.05);after 1 month of treatment, the scores of epigastric fullness, limb burning pain, numbness and heavy fatigue of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, and the scores of the Toronto clinical scoring system were lower than those of the control group, the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Conclusion Modified Gegen Qinlian Decoction can reduce blood glucose level in elderly DPN patients, improve nerve conduction speed and alleviate symptoms.
