Study of Survey on the Current Status of Knowledge-attitude-practice and Influence Factors of Self-monitoring of Blood Glucose in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus with Chronic Periodontitis
Objective To investigate the current status of knowledge-attitude-practice and influence factors of self-monitoring of blood glucose(SMBG)in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)with chronic periodontitis, and to provide a reference for the improvement of SMBG knowledge-attitude-practice level in patients with T2DM with chronic periodontitis. Methods A total of 78 T2DM patients with chronic periodontitis who were treated in the Stoma-tology department of Jinjiang City Hospital of Fujian Province from March 2021 to March 2023 were selected as the study objects. The level of SMBG knowledge and practice was assessed by using the blood glucose monitoring and management knowledge and practice questionnaire, and the influencing factors were analyzed. Results The total score of SMBG questionnaire for 78 patients with T2DM and chronic periodontitis was(73.27±6.82)points,which was in the middle level.Age and education level were independent risk factors affecting the level of knowledge-attitude-practice of patients with T2DM with chronic periodontitis(both P<0.05).Receiving SMBG health education and receiving regu-lar follow-up were independent protective factors affecting the level of knowledge-attitude-practice of patients with T2DM with chronic periodontitis(both P<0.05).Conclusion The SMBG knowledge-attitude-practice level of patients with T2DM with chronic periodontitis is at a moderate level, especially those who are old, have low literacy, have no SMBG health education, and do not receive regular follow-up.Clinical attention should be paid to the SMBG health education of the above patients,to improve their SMBG knowledge-attitude-practice level, and to reduce the inci-dence of adverse events related to poor blood glucose control.
