Objective To compare the clinical effects of metformin and acarbose combined with irbesartan in the treat-ment of diabetes with hypertension. Methods 156 patients with type 2 diabetes combined with hypertension who were admitted to the internal medicine department of Nan'an Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2022 to June 2023 were selected as the study objects and were divided into the control group(n=76)and the study group(n= 80)according to the random number table method. The control group was treated with metformin and irbesartan, while the study group was treated with acarbose and irbesartan. The clinical treatment effects of the two groups after 2 months were compared. Results The fasting blood glucose(FBG)of the control group was lower than that of the study group, while the 2 hour postprandial plasma glucose(2 hPG)and glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c)were higher than those of the study group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).There was no statistically sig-nificant difference in 24-hour urinary protein value(24 hrUprV),systolic blood pressure(SBP)and diastolic blood pressure(DBP)between the two groups of patients(all P>0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in inci-dence of adverse reactions of the control group(6.58%)and the study group(8.75%)(P>0.05).Conclusion Metformin and acarbose have their own characteristics. The combination of irbesartan and metformin has a definite effect in the treatment of diabetes with hypertension, and there are fewer adverse reactions.Among them, metformin has a signifi-cant effect in reducing FBG,and acarbose has a significant effect in reducing 2 hPG and HbA1c.The clinical use of drugs can be reasonably selected according to the patient's indications.
