Objective To explore the efficacy of the application of biguanide glucose-lowering drugs in type 2 diabe-tes mellitus. Methods 80 cases of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients admitted to Tengzhou Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January to December 2023 were randomly selected as the study objects. All patients were divided into the control group and the observation group according to the method of randomized number table, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was given oral repaglinide tablets and the observation group was given oral biguanide glucose-lowering drug metformin tablets, and the two groups were compared with each other in terms of blood glucose, pancreatic islet function, and adverse reactions after 8 weeks of continuous medication. Results There was no statisti-cally significant difference in blood glucose and pancreatic islet function between the two groups before treatment(all P>0.05);after 4 and 8 weeks of treatment, the blood glucose and pancreatic islet function in the observation group were better than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The total inci-dence of adverse reactions in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of biguanide glucose-lowering drug metformin tablets in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients can improve blood glucose and pancreatic islet function,it can also reduce the ad-verse reactions.
