Objective To investigate the application of dexmedetomidine in general anesthesia and the influence of blood glucose level in type 2 diabetes patients with surgery. Methods 70 patients with type 2 diabetes who underwent surgical treatment in Quangang District Hospital of Quanzhou City from May 2020 to May 2023 were selected as the study objects and divided into observation group(n=35)and control group(n=35)by random number table method. The control group received general anesthesia, and the observation group received dexmedetomidine combined with general anesthesia.Hemodynamics, blood glucose level and safety of anesthetic drugs were compared between the two groups. Results There was no statistically significant difference in mean arterial pressure(MAP),heart rate, blood glu-cose level before anesthesia and safety of anesthetic drugs between the two groups(all P>0.05).The MAP,heart rate and blood glucose levels at intubation, skin incision and extubation in the control group were higher than those before anesthesia, and higher than those in the observation group, the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Conclusion Dexmedetomidine has a high application value in general anesthesia of type 2 diabetes patients combined with surgery, which is conducive to maintaining hemodynamic stability and preventing elevated blood glucose level, and has a high safety.
