Effect of Sitagliptin Combined with High-flow Ventilation on Blood Glu-cose Level in Elderly Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Complicated with Severe Respiratory Failure
Objective To explore the application value of high-flow ventilation combined with sitagliptin in elderly pa-tients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with severe respiratory failure. Methods A total of Ninety-six elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus combined with severe respiratory failure admitted to Quanzhou First Hospital from January to December 2023 were selected as the study subjects, and they were divided into control group(n=48)and study group(n=48)by using sealed envelope method. Both groups received high flow ventilation, metformin tab-lets in the control group and sitagliptin in the study group.Fasting Plasma Glucose(FPG)and 2-hour Postprandial Plasma Glucose(2 hPG)levels were compared between the two groups before and after the intervention for 7 days, and the pulmonary function indexes were compared between the two groups after the intervention for 7 days, which include Forced Vital Capacity(FVC)and Forced Expiratory Volume In One Second(FEV1).Results After 7 days of interven-tion,the blood glucose level of the study group was lower than that of the control group, and the difference was statisti-cally significant(P<0.05).The level of lung function indexes in the study group was better than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion In elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and severe respiratory failure,high-flow ventilation combined with sitagliptin can reduce blood glucose levels and promote the recovery of lung function.
