Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of dapagliflozin and metformin in the clinical treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods A total of 94 patients with T2DM admitted to Jinan Jiyang District Hospi-tal of Traditional Chinese Medicine from October 2021 to October 2023 were selected as the study objects and were randomly divided into a study group and a control group by random number table method;with 47 cases in each group. The control group was treated with metformin alone, and the study group was treated with dapagliflozin and met-formin.The therapeutic effect and safety of the two groups were compared. Results After treatment, the levels of fast-ing plasma glucose,2-hour postprandial blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin A1c in the study group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The levels of triglycer-ide,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and total cholesterol in the study group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The scores of quality of life in the study group were better than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The total inci-dence of adverse reactions between the two groups has no statistically significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusion In the clinical treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, the combined application of dapagliflozin and metformin has more obvious efficacy, which can improve the level of blood glucose and lipid indexes of patients and enhance the quality of life of patients, with a high degree of safety.
