Objective To analyze the clinical advantages of the combination of metformin hydrochloride and repa-glinide in the treatment of diabetes mellitus. Methods A total of 220 cases of diabetic patients who received treatment in the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Quangang District Hospital of Quanzhou City from July 2020 to July 2023 were selected as the study objects, and they were grouped by lottery method, with 110 cases in each group. The control group was treated with metformin hydrochloride, and the observation group was treated with the combina-tion of metformin hydrochloride and Repaglinide, and the clinical efficacy of the two groups were compared. Results The total clinical efficiency of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the glycemic metabolism index of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, and the time to reach the blood glucose standard and the hospitalization time were shorter those that of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).After treatment, compared with the control group, the observation group had lower plasma insulin and insulin resistance index, and higher insulin β-cell function index, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was 9.09%,compared with 4.55%in the control group, and the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion The combination of metformin hydrochloride and repaglinide for the treatment of diabetes mellitus can improve the efficacy, adjust the indicators of glucose metabolism and insulin, with high safety.
