Objective To analyze the effect of application of acarbose in patients with diabetic nephropathy. Methods The clinical data of sixty patients with end-stage diabetic nephropathy admitted to the Second Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University from January to December 2023 were retrospectively selected and divided into the control group(n=30)and the study group(n=30)according to the different treatment modalities. The control group applied in-sulin treatment and the study group used acarbose for treatment. Before treatment and 1 month of treatment, the fast-ing plasma glucose(FPG)and 2-hour postprandial plasma glucose(2 hPG)levels, renal function indexes, and WHO Quality of Life-100(WHOQOL-100)score of two groups were compared. Results Before treatment, the blood glucose levels of the two groups were compared, the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).1 month after treat-ment,the blood glucose level of the study group was lower than that of the control group, the difference was statisti-cally significant(P<0.001).Before treatment, the renal function index of the two groups was compared, the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).1 month after treatment, the renal function index of the study group was lower than that of the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.001).Before treatment, the WHOQOL-100 score of the two groups was compared, the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).1 month after treatment, the WHOQOL-100 score of the study group was higher than that of the control group, the differ-ence was statistically significant(P<0.001).Conclusion Acarbose can reduce the blood glucose level of diabetic ne-phropathy patients, thus improving their renal function and quality of life.
