Effect of Intensive Hypoglycemic Therapy Combined with Periodontal Basal Therapy on Blood Glucose and Inflammatory Factor Levels in Pa-tients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Combined with Moderate-to-severe Chronic Periodontitis
Objective To investigate the effects of intensive hypoglycemic therapy combined with periodontal basic therapy on blood glucose and inflammatory factor levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus combined with moderate-to-severe chronic periodontitis. Methods Sixty-two patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus combined with moderate-to-severe chronic periodontitis admitted to Dehua County Hospital between January 2020 and January 2023 were selected as the study subjects, and were randomly divided into two groups according to the red and blue ball method, with 31 cases in each group. The control group took diabetes basic treatment combined with periodontal basic treatment, and the observation group took intensive hypoglycemic treatment on the basis of the control group. The blood glucose level, inflammatory factor level and periodontal index after treatment in the two groups were compared. Results After treatment, the blood glucose control level of the observation group was better than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The levels of inflammatory factors in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).All periodontal indices of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statis-tically significant(all P<0.05).Conclusion For patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus combined with moderate-to-severe chronic periodontitis, the use of intensive hypoglycemic therapy combined with periodontal basic therapy can help to control blood glucose levels and reduce the level of inflammatory factors, which has a better effect on improv-ing the periodontal index.
