Objective To investigate the effect and pharmaceutical effect of pioglitazone combined with metformin in diabetic patients.Methods A total of 100 diabetic patients admitted to the Pharmacy Department of laiyang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Shandong Province from June 2022 to June 2023 were selected as the study ob-jects.The patients were divided into two groups by random number table method,with 50 cases in each group.The control group was treated with pioglitazone alone,while the observation group was treated with metformin at the same time.The blood glucose index,insulin index,lipid index,inflammatory response index and the incidence of adverse re-action of the two groups were compared.Results After treatment,the levels of blood glucose indexes in the observa-tion group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Af-ter treatment,the fasting insulin and 2-hour postprandial insulin levels in the observation group were higher than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).After treatment,triacylglyc-erol,total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein cholesterol in observation group were lower than those in control group,and high density lipoprotein cholesterol was higher than those in control group,and the differences were statisti-cally significant(all P<0.05).After treatment,all inflammatory factors in the observation group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).There was no significant differ-ence in the incidence of adverse events between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion In diabetic patients,piogli-tazone combined with metformin can reduce blood sugar level,improve insulin and lipid status,reduce inflammatory reaction degree,and has a certain safety.
