Objective To explore the effect of following metformin combined with sitagliptin and pioglitazone in the treatment of diabetic patients. Methods A total of 300 diabetic patients admitted to the Department of Endocrinology,Yongding District Hospital,Longyan City from May to December 2023 were selected as the research objects, and they were divided into two groups with 150 cases in each group according to different treatment methods. The observation group was treated with metformin combined with sitagliptin, and the control group was treated with metformin com-bined with pioglitazone. The improvement of blood glucose and blood lipids between the two groups was compared. Results After treatment, glycosylated hemoglobin A1c,2-hour postprandial blood glucose and fasting blood glucose decreased in the two groups, and the observation group was lower than the control group, and the differences were sta-tistically significant(all P<0.05).After treatment, the levels of triacylglycerol, total cholesterol and low density lipopro-tein cholesterol in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).After treatment, the homeostasis model assessment of β cells function in the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance was lower than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(both P<0.05).Conclusion In the treatment of diabetic patients, the combination of metformin and sitagliptin can better improve the blood glucose and lipid levels of patients and improve the function of pancreatic islets.
