Objective To explore the effects of self-family-environment empowerment management model on self-efficacy,social support and quality of life in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods A total of 68 elderly T2DM patients admitted to Taian Yongjun Hospital in Shandong Province from November 2022 to Novem-ber 2023 were included in the study.The patients were divided into groups according to different nursing styles re-ceived during treatment.The conventional nursing group(31 cases)received T2DM routine nursing,and the empower-ment management group(37 cases)received self-family-environment empowerment management mode.Blood glucose levels,medication compliance,self-efficacy scores,social support scores and quality of life scores were compared be-tween the two groups.Results The levels of fasting blood glucose and 2 h postprandial blood glucose in empowering-management group were lower than those in conventional care group,and the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).The appropriateness of medication in empowerment management group was higher than that in conven-tional care group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The scores and total scores of diabetes self-efficacy scale in empowerment management group were higher than those in conventional care group,and the differ-ences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The scores and total scores of social support rating scale in empower-ment management group were higher than those in conventional care group,and the differences were statistically sig-nificant(all P<0.05).The scores and total scores of quality of life scale in empowerment management group were higher than those in conventional care group,and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Conclusion Self-family-environment empowerment management model can effectively reduce blood glucose levels in elderly patients with T2DM and improve medication compliance,self-efficacy,social support and quality of life.
