Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of epalrestat tablets+lipoic acid in patients with diabetic pe-ripheral neuropathy. Methods A total of 98 diabetic peripheral neuropathy patients treated in the First Affiliated Hos-pital of Guangxi Medical University from September 2022 to September 2023 were selected as the study objects, and they were divided into control group(49 cases)and observation group(49 cases)according to random number table method. The control group was treated with lipoic acid injection, and the observation group was treated with epalrestat tablets. After 3 months of treatment, the efficacy, biochemical indexes and adverse reactions of the two groups were compared. Results The total effective rate of observation group(97.96%)was higher than that of control group(81.63%),and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=7.127,P=0.008).After treatment, all blood biochemical indexes in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically sig-nificant(all P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Epalrestat tablets+lipoic acid used in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy is effective, play a significant role in improving the clinical symptoms of patients, and can improve blood biochemical levels,no serious adverse reactions.
