Objective To explore the value of Orem nursing model in patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes. Methods A total of one hundred and fifty patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes admitted to Yancheng First People's Hospital from June 2020 to June 2023 were selected as the study objects. They were divided into control group(n=75)with conventional nursing mode and observation group(n=75)with Orem nursing model according to ran-dom number table method.Self-management ability, blood glucose index and the nursing satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results After nursing, the self-management ability score of the observation group was higher, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The fasting blood glucose(5.42±0.89)mmol/L and 2-hour postprandial blood glucose(7.78±1.56)mmol/L in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the con-trol group, and the differences were statistically significant(t=4.802,5.241,both P<0.05).The total nursing satisfac-tion of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Orem nursing model for patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes can improve their self-management ability, better control blood glucose index results, and improve their nursing satisfaction.
