Objective To investigate the effects of triamcinolone and phacoemulsification on the best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)and macular thickness of patients with diabetic cataract. Methods The clinical data of one hundred and twenty patients with diabetic cataract admitted to Fuzhou Southeast Eye Hospital from June 2021 to June 2023 were retrospectively selected and divided into two groups according to different treatment methods, with sixty cases in each group. The control group received phacoemulsification cataract aspiration, and the observation group received tri-amcinolone and phacoemulsification cataract aspiration.BCVA,macular thickness, subjective comfort and the occur-rence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results At 3 months after operation,BCVA in observa-tion group 0.72±0.15 was higher than that in control group 0.64±0.14,macular thickness(216.54±20.75)μm was lower than that of control group(237.88±22.63)μm,and the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).The incidence of red eye, photophobia, foreign body sensation and pruritis in observation group(11.67%,18.33%,15.00%,11.67%)were lower than those in control group(26.67%,36.67%,35.00%,31.67%),and the total incidence of complications(5.00%)was lower than that in control group(16.67%),and the differences were statistically signifi-cant(all P<0.05).Conclusion Triamcinolone and phacoemulsification in the treatment of diabetic cataract can im-prove postoperative macular thickening, reduce complications rate and improve visual acuity.
