Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of miglitol and glipizide in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and its influence on blood glucose level. Methods A total of eighty-four patients with type 2 diabetes admit-ted to the Affiliated People's Hospital of Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from October 2021 to Oc-tober 2023 were selected as the study objects, and they were divided into two groups according to random number table method, with forty-two patients in each group. The control group was given glipizide monotherapy, and the obser-vation group was given miglitol plus glipizide. The clinical efficacy, blood glucose control, islet function and drug safety were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of observation group(95.24%)was higher than that of control group(80.95%),and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=4.086,P=0.043).After treatment, the blood glucose control indexes and islet function indexes of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).There was no significant differ-ence in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion The treatment of miglitol and glipizide can significantly improve the therapeutic effect of type 2 diabetes patients, regulate blood glucose and islet function more effectively, and ensure the safety of medication.
