Objective To study the application value of Xiaochaihu decoction in the treatment of type 2 diabetes melli-tus(T2DM).Methods A total of eighty T2DM patients admitted to Anxi County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medi-cine from May 2021 to August 2023 were selected as the study objects and divided into two groups according to ran-dom number table method.The control group(40 cases)was given routine basic treatment,and the observation group(40 cases)was given Xiaochaihu decoction based on the treatment conditions of the control group to adjuvant treapy.Blood glucose index,TCM syndrome score and drug safety were compared between the two groups at different treat-ment stages.Results After treatment,the levels of glycated hemoglobin A1c,fasting blood glucose and 2-hour post-prandial plasma glucose in the observation group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).After treatment,the scores of three traditional Chinese medicine syndroms(exces-sive thirst,excessive hunger and dry mouth)in the observation group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of ad-verse reactions between the two groups(10.00%vs 5.00%)(χ2=0.180,P=0.671).Conclusion Xiaochaihu decoction can help reduce the blood glucose level of T2DM patients,improve the TCM syndromes of patients,and ensure the safety of medication.
