Objective To explore the efficacy and value of phacoemulsification in the treatment of diabetic cataract(DC).Methods The clinical data of ninety-eight DC patients admitted to Hongze District People's Hospital of Huai'an City,Jiangsu Province from January 2022 to December 2023 were retrospectively selected, and the patients were divided into two groups according to different surgical methods, with forty-nine cases each. The control group un-derwent intraocular lens extraction and implantation, and the observation group underwent phacoemulsification.Visual acuity function index, central macular thickness(CMT)level, complication rate and clinical efficacy were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the uncorrected and best corrected near vision and far vision in the observation group were better than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).After treatment, the CMT level of observation group was lower than that of control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The total incidence of complications such as cellulose exudation, corneal edema and aqueous humor turbidity in the observation group was 4.08%,lower than that in the control group(16.32%),the differ-ence was statistically significant(χ2=4.009,P<0.05).The total clinical effective rate of observation group was 93.88%,higher than that of control group(79.59%),and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=4.346,P<0.05).Conclusion Phacoemulsification is an ideal treatment for DC patients.Compared with intraocular lens extrac-tion and implantation, the postoperative visual function and CMT level of patients are improved better, and the inci-dence of postoperative complications is lower and the total clinical effective rate is higher.
