Objective To investigate the effects of combination therapy with metformin and semiglutide on metabolic parameters in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods A total of 82 T2DM patients who were addmit-ted in the Department of Chronic Diseases of Zibo Municipal Hospital from April 2022 to May 2023 were selected as the research objects.According to the envelope method, they were divided into the control group and the observation group, with 41 cases in each group. The conventional group was treated with oral metformin, and the study group was treated with oral metformin plus injection of semaglutide. The glucose metabolism, lipid metabolism, islet function and clinical efficacy of the two groups were compared. Results After 12 weeks of treatment, the levels of fasting plasma glucose,2-hour postprandial plasma glucose, glycated hemoglobin A1c,triglyceride,total cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol in the study group were lower than those in the conventional group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).After 12 weeks of treatment, there was no significant difference in islet function between the two groups(P>0.05).The clinical efficacy of the study group(92.68%)was higher than that of the conven-tional group(75.61%),and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=4.479,P<0.05).Conclusion In T2DM pa-tients,subepithelial injection of semaglutide with oral metformin can improve glucose and lipid metabolism indexes and islet function, and the clinical effect is more significant.
