Objective To analyze the glucose-controlling effect of metformin combined with insulin pump injection on gestational diabetes mellitus. Methods Clinical data of 65 patients with gestational diabetes mellitus admitted to the Sixth People's Hospital of Macheng City from May 2021 to December 2023 were retrospectively selected.According to the dif-ferent treatment methods, the patients were divided into two control groups. On the basis of metformin given to all patients, the observation group(33 cases)was given insulin pump injection, and the control group(32 cases)was given routine insu-lin injection.Blood glucose indicators(fasting blood glucose,2-hour postprandial blood glucose, and glycated hemoglobin A1c),insulin resistance indicators(fasting insulin and homeostasis model assessment insulin resistance),adverse preg-nancy outcomes(preterm birth, postpartum hemorrhage, miscarriage),and adverse neonatal outcomes(neonatal asphyxia, hypoglycemia, macronesia, respiratory distress)were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the blood glucose indexes in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statisti-cally significant(all P<0.05).The insulin resistance indexes of observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).The total incidences of adverse pregnancy outcomes and adverse neonatal outcomes in the observation group were lower than that in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).Conclusion In patients with gestational diabetes mellitus, subcutaneous injection combined with insulin pump on the basis of metformin can reduce the level of blood glucose stably, reasonably control in-sulin resistance, improve maternal and infant outcomes, safe and effective.
