Objective To analyze the application value of the treatment of metformin hydrochloride sustained release tablets in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.Methods A total of 80 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus admitted to Quanzhou Guoyu Hospital from February 2021 to March 2023 were selected as the research objects and divided into two groups according to the different treatment methods,with 40 cases in each group.The study group was treated with metformin hydrochloride sustained release tablets,and the general group was treated with metformin.The blood glucose levels(fasting plasma glucose,2-hour postprandial plasma glucose,glycated hemoglobin A1c),blood lipid lev-els(triglyceride,total cholesterol,high density lipoprotein cholesterol,low density lipoprotein cholesterol),islet func-tion(fasting insulin,insulin resistance index,insulin secretion index)were compared between the two groups.Results Before treatment,there were no statistically significant differences in blood glucose levels between the two groups(all P>0.05).After treatment,the blood glucose levels of the study group were lower than those of the general group,and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Before the treatment,there were no statistically significant difference in blood lipid levels between two groups(all P>0.05).After treatment,the blood lipid levels of study group were better than those of general group,the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Before treatment,there were no significant differences in the levels of islet function index between the study group and the control group(all P>0.05).After treatment,the study group of islet function indexes were superior to the general group,the differ-ences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Conclusion Metformin hydrochloride sustained-release tablets can improve blood glucose level,blood lipid level and islet function in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
