Objective To discuss the treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus combined with both da-gliflozin and pioglitazone. Methods The clinical data of 90 patients of type 2 diabetes mellitus admitted to Quanzhou First Hospital from January 2023 to February 2024 were retrospectively selected.According to the different treatment methods, they were divided into control group(45 cases, treated with pioglitazone)and observation group(45 cases, treated with dapagliflozin combined with pioglitazone). The blood glucose levels(fasting plasma glucose,2-hour post-prandial plasma glucose, glycated hemoglobin A1c),blood lipid levels(triglyceride, total cholesterol, high density lipo-protein,low density lipoprotein),insulin function(insulin resistance index, islet β cell function index),and the total in-cidence of adverse reactions(hypoglycemia, nausea and vomiting, dizziness and headache)were compared between the two groups. Results The blood glucose levels of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, and the levels of blood lipid metabolism in the observation group were better than those in the control group, and the differ-ences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The insulin resistance index and islet β cell function index of the ob-servation group were better than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).The total incidence of adverse reaction in the control group was higher than that in the observation group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion For patients of type 2 diabetes mellitus, the combina-tion of dapagliflozin and pioglitazone has great advantages, which can make the blood glucose and blood lipid levels close to normal levels to a certain extent, and the insulin function gradually returned to normal.
