Objective To investigate the effect of continuous subcutaneous injection of insulin in elderly patients of type 2 diabetes mellitus.Methods A total of 78 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus admitted to the Depart-ment of Internal Medicine of Tengzhou Second People's Hospital from February 2023 to February 2024 were selected as the research objects.They were divided into control group(39 cases,received multiple subcutaneous injections of biosynthetic human insulin)and observation group(39 cases,received continuous subcutaneous insulin injection)by different treatment methods.The changes of blood glucose(average daily absolute difference of blood glucose and the average daily fluctuation rate of blood glucose),blood glucose(fasting blood glucose,2-hour postprandial blood glu-cose),islet cell function(insulin resistance index,islet β cell function index),oxidative stress index(superoxide dis-mutase,malondialdehyde)were compared between the two groups.Results The average daily absolute difference of blood glucose and the average daily fluctuation rate of blood glucose in the observation group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).After treatment,the blood glucose level(fasting blood glucose,2-hour postprandial blood glucose)of the observation group were lower than those of the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).After treatment,the insulin resistance in-dex of the observation group was lower than that of the control group,and the islet β cell function index was higher than that of the control group,the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).After treatment,the malondi-aldehyde in the observation group was lower than that in the control group,and the superoxide dismutase was higher than that in the control group,the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).Conclusion The effect of continuous subcutaneous insulin injection in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus is better,which is benefi-cial to regulate islet function and quickly control blood glucose index in a short time.
