Diabetes mellitus is a common chronic metabolic disease with a high incidence.The occurrence of this dis-ease is closely related to genetic factors and environmental factors.The combined effect of hyperglycemia and insulin resistance is a risk factor for diabetic microangiopathy,while diabetic macroangiopathy will increase the probability of disability and death in patients.In particular,when diabetic mellitus patients have coronary atherosclerosis artery dis-ease,persistent atherosclerosis will occur in the large blood vessels,which poses a threat to the life and health of pa-tients.This article will review the relationship between diabetes and atherosclerosis,and summarize the clinical re-search progress,so as to provide a reference for further understanding of the pathological and physiological processes of diabetes-related atherosclerosis and early diagnosis and treatment strategies.
