Objective To explore the effect of continuous nursing on postoperative patients with type 2 diabetes melli-tus complicated with senile cataract. Methods A total of 72 postoperative patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus com-plicated with senile cataract who were admitted to the Department of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology in Juxian Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from March 2022 to March 2023 were selected as the research objects.Ac-cording to different nursing methods, they were divided into control group(n=36)and study group(n=36).The control group was given routine discharge guidance, and the study group was given continuous nursing. The blood glucose level(glycated hemoglobin A1c,fasting blood glucose,2-hour postprandial blood glucose),self-care ability score and quality of life scores(role physical, role psychological, role social, general health)were compared between the two groups. Results The levels of glycated hemoglobin A1c,fasting blood glucose and 2-hour postprandial blood glucose in the study group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The scores of self-care ability and quality of life in the study group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Conclusion Continuous nursing is applied to postopera-tive patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with senile cataract. The blood glucose level control effect is better, and the self-care ability and quality of life are significantly improved.
